Berkeley Vale finishes 3rd in Club Championship at JSC

Well, another State Cup has come and gone for another year and what a weekend we all had.
Conditions were warm and humid and thankfully the rain stayed away. It was a fantastic weekend for the largest touch football tournament in the world, and nothing could get in the way of our `Panther cubs'. The task was set by each team, and there was nothing else to do but play hard and play tough, and that's what every one of our sides did.

New South Wales Touch Association & Junior State Cup caters for approx 310 teams, 26 fields, 40+ affiliates, 350 referees, 10,000 participants and over 800 games in a two day period. "UNBELIEVABLE".
The place was buzzing with excitement as play tapped off on Saturday morning at 8.00am.
In brief, it was a super weekend for all concerned, with all of our youngsters performing extremely well.
It was also the first taste of State Cup action for a number of players, parents and officials.

Overall the Berkeley Vale Junior touch club performed very wel with the club coming away with 3 teams coming runners up at the state cup. This is the best performance from our club since we have been sending teams away which reflects on our position in the overall club championship which is mentioned later. We had a total 7 of the 10 teams going through to the round of 16. The 12 Boys, 14 girls and 16 Girls teams where State Cup runners up, 14 boys team were beaten in semi finals, 10 girls & 10 Boys where beaten in the quarter finals with the 12 Girls being beaten in the round of 16 games. This acheivement carried on from our dominant club performance at the Peter Wilson Memorial Championships were we finished Club champions for the 5th year in a row. At the completion of the Tournament Manly were announced as Club Champions with Wagga Wagga in second and yes Berkeley Vale third. This has been the best club performance since we have been attending the State cup in 6 years. We only missed out on second place by 3 points. This is a massive effort to beat home the likes of the Penrith and Parramatta clubs who are very strong. We can now say that we are the third best touch club affiliate in the state. Well done to everyone concerned.

Berkeley Vale Junior Touch would once again like to congratulate all players and coaching staff on a job well done! Also, thank you to all parents and spectators for your continual support, and a big thank you to all the individuals who helped tremendously in the lead up to the tournament and while at the tournament especially in the tent area. You guys are unbelievable with the support you give this club. If it were not for the likes of these volunteers we would not be as organised and professional as we are.

Also to all our individual team sponsors and to our Major sponsor Premier Catering Supplies thank you, if we didn't have your support then this weekend would have been a lot more expensive for the kids.
To all the referees that attended from our club and others a big thank you because as you know the game can not happen without you people.
And to any one else that i may have missed a big thank you for all your help as this weekend does take a lot of people to make it a successful one in which we did.
