The sentiment expressed in the below excerpt from a letter to Narangba Rangers complimenting the U14 Div 2 team exposes the value of teamwork, sportsmanship, respect and integrity that playing Rugby League offers.

... We always get told when our boys play up or when something goes wrong.  We all play against sides that sometimes appear to fudge the rules or play in a way that is not in the true spirit of the game, but that is not the case here and I wanted to make sure your club and the team know what a terrific bunch of young men they are and what an honest red hot side they are.

For 2 years ( 4 games ) that side has been the benchmark in my world; the way they play and conduct themselves during a game.  I and my side have the utmost respect for them, they are what I and my team aspire to be, and with hard work we are getting there.  We have had great games regardless of the field we have played on against those boys and they have done your club, their coaches and parents proud. The coach and his staff also need a wrap.  They have always been polite, welcoming and respectful before and after a game; a great bunch of guys.

I don't know if you were there Sunday but I personally thought  that one was of the best games I have been involved with in my 7 years of coaching.  Shaking hands with the side on Sunday I could see some of the guys were a little upset and I am sure once their coach spoke to them they could see that they gave everything as they always have against us.  They should be very proud of their achievements and efforts.  Spectator support on both sides of the field on Sunday was in great spirit and very vocal and supportive of the teams.

My team would like to congratulate them and wish them nothing but success for the playoffs in 2018 and hopefully, and with the footy gods shining down on us, we can go through the play offs and have the same success we have both had during the year .

So in closing if you would kindly let the team and the coaching staff know for me that they are a great bunch of " footy heads " and we look forward to many more close encounters in the future.  Playing against teams like yours make coaching a joy - costs me hair - but a joy.

Thanks for some great games...
