H4H Launch for Women

There were nearly 100 women participated during the launch from different organizations or group within Betio and South Tarawa on Thursday 19th May. It was very excited to see lot of women engaged that day showing heart of willing to join basketball activity and especially accepting the invitation that has been dispatched one by the women coordinator a week before the event commences. On that day, according to the main event programme, Mr Administrator Tek gives a word of thanks seeing women effort attending the day which is very important for them and was outlining what would be the purpose of the day and also what would actually the benefit and outcome of the activity.

KBF also proud to meet new high ranking people from the Australia High Commissioner, Deputy Secretary Miss Barba, from the Ministry for Women, Youth and Social Affairs Mr Taburimai Tewaki (Principal Sport Officer), Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education. The linkage and having a good relationship with these stakeholders could lead basketball and H4H program a scuccessful journey.

As during formal part MC gives time as well to stakeholders to speak for the day and followed with a few updates from NBDO regarding schedules or the visit to be taken in places and together with a word from women. The KBF are very motivated hearding a word from the women saying " This is the first ever sport inviting women to play basketball and we will commit to this as to help us reduce the risk of NCD's" it is encouraging to hear this from these women and we are ready to work and sustain the program for women.

After a formal part, NBDO and H4H coaches running the short clinics to women on how to dribble the ball, shooting, footwork (pivoting) and then run fun games, such as knockdown, dribble away from salty, shooting spelling. The session close with a song of "water melon"..teaching mums so that they can share with babies.
