Final Trials 2008 - or that was the idea !

Not a perfect technique !
Maybe at the 2020 Olympics ?

Well at least our best throwing prospect, 18-year-old Raobu Tarawa, was still throwing well at the end of 2008 !   He concentrated on Discus (2.0 kg.) this morning and managed five legal throws out of six.   With three over 35.00 m. and a best of 37.56m. he was just behind his best of the year (37.70) and looking good for next season.   There are still problems with head position and rotation and angle - what a hard event to achieve consistency !   But he works !

A young family, attracted by the throwing aid Vortex, have been coming to the Stadium recently to have fun and learn throwing.   Today, after another short practice, they all had three measured throws.   As expected, the boy Moatara and his sister Raakena were the best.   The images are of the youngest trying to throw, plus the whole group (plus friend and Christmas present in-line skates !)

1. Moatara.   (Age 11)  23.20m.    2. Ms. Raakena.   (Age 10)  19.20m.   3. Tiraoi.   (Age 7)  16.30m.

4. Kiatoa.   (Age 4)  10.60m.         5. Baro.   (Age 5)  8.30m.
