World Athletics Days in Kiribati. Part 1.

Triple Jump take-off
Thanks for the Moroni tent !

ANTICIPATING LARGE NUMBERS !

After the rain today, maybe we will be disappointed.   However, the plan is to stage five events for the "Clubs" age-group tomorrow  (May 03), followed by a second meeting for the "Schools" age-group next Saturday (May 10).    The age-group named "Clubs" includes only those athletes born in 1991 and 1992.   The "Schools" group will be for those born in 1993, 1994, and 1995.

The reason for staging the older one first is because on May 16/17 we will have the newly-named "KAA Championships" (in previous incarnations it was the "Tarawa Championships").   It is hoped that a number of those competing tomorrow will also be involved in two weeks time.

INTENDED EVENTS.

For the first (older) meeting, we will have track races at 100m., 400m., and 1500m.   On the field there will be Triple Jump and Shot.

On May 10, we will vary the programme a little by having 80m., 300m., and 1000m. on the track, plus Shot and Long Jump as field events.

SUBMITTING RESULTS.

As in previous years, we must submit winners' names and performances to IAAF by May 31st.    We look forward to finding more new talent.
