Thanks for the up-grade !

Track widening
Track levelling

It is thanks to Kauaba Ibutuna (former Committee member of KAA) that he has arranged for the widening and levelling of the main track at RKU (National) Stadium.   The full story behind the up-grade, e.g. who is paying for it ? - is not yet known.   Anyway, it is the answer to prayers and was a very welcome surprise last night when we went to training and saw the graded sand and the earth-shifters at work until the sun set, then again this morning (Weds. May 9th.)

In view of the "Tri-Rigger Championship" invitation competition in just over five weeks time, this will undoubtedly encourage them that their runners will NOT have to run through ankle-deep flood water !   We will send them the glad news !

This work will not only benefit Kauaba's athletes from the KGV and EB School during their two-day Meeting tomorrow and Friday.   It will also improve the chances of good performances by those born in 1990 amd 1991 who attend the World Athletics Day 2. Meeting on Saturday.   Then we have the National Championships on May 18th. evening and May 19th.   This will be the final chance for any athletes wishing to impress the selectors prior to the Selection Meeting (for SPG 2007) which will be on May 20th.   (Entries and Accreditations close on May 25th.)

Finally this month we have our May Trials so that athletes can judge their progress.   These will be on May 26th.
