Trivia Night-A very Successful Event

Last night more than 60 people came along to support GSC’s Sophie McIntosh with her 470 sailing. On Monday Sophie will embark on her 1st international 470 class sailing regatta with plans to compete in the 2017 Japan Nationals as warmup to the 2017 470 Junior (under 24 yrs) Worlds. The two events are to be held out of Enoshima Yacht Harbour Japan, the same venue in which the 2020 Olympic games will be held for sailing.

Sophie says she is keen to get into the racing, and no-matter what the result she will have gained invaluable experience which will enhance her skills as an Australian representative sailor. Sophie was awarded Gosford Sailing Club International Club Representative of the year for 2016/17 after an amazing year being selected in the Australian Youth Sailing Team in the 420 class, competing at the Youth Worlds in New Zealand last December, to her recent step-up into the 470 class and selection into the Australian Sailing Squad.

“I would like to say a huge thanks to everyone for coming tonight. You guys are the reason I’m able to do what I do and I’m very thankful for that”.

A very special thanks must be given to Dick Bridge for running the trivia night with some very funny and entertaining questions, Sophie’s parents Lorraine and Peter McIntosh for all their combined effort to put together the prizes, Gosford Sailing Club’s Lee and Peter for the lead up preparation and always supporting Sophie. A big thanks to all who donated prizes and of course, everyone who came along and supported Sophie!! We hope you all had an amazing night.
