Sail Port Stephens 2017 Teams Trophy

SAIL PORT STEPHENS 2017

Ten boats represented Gosford Sailing Club in this year’s Sail Port Stephens Regatta which this year marked the 10th anniversary of the event.  This regatta is touted as the fastest growing regatta in Australia and the 2017 event will be remembered as having the biggest entries (112) and arguably the best weather.

For Gosford Sailing Club, it will also be remembered as winning the inaugural Club Teams Trophy which is awarded to the best 3 club results in all divisions on the second Port Stephens trophy day.   Director David Slingsby accepted the trophy on behalf of the entrants and the Bucket and Mugs will go on display in the club’s trophy cabinet.   The bucket also included a bottle of Captain Morgan and Coke which is being tracked down at time of writing but to gain full appreciation, you probably had to be there…

Individual Gosford best performances were as follows :-

Devils Lair, John Sprague  – 7th in the lead-in Newcastle to Port Stephens race and a third overall in the Performance Cruising Division 1.

Mac 2, Andrew McDougall - 3rd overall in the Super 12s

Kelsea Blue, Adrian Williams – 2nd overall in Commodores Cup Division 2

Koko Garmin, Roy Leslie – 4th overall Performance Cruising Division 2

Even Finer, Geoff Dilworth – 5th overall Performance Cruising Division 2 and 1st Heat 1 Commodores Cup Division 2
