FRIDAY FREEDOM – GSC CRUISE DAY
FRIDAY FREEDOM – GSC CRUISE DAY.
The day was hot, the water was cool, and the beer cold – perfect combination, eh? But wait there’s more …
The wind was gentle, the sailing relaxing, and the destination almost to ourselves. Added to that, the majestic hills and a lovely sandy beach at the head of the cove, complimented the enjoyment of the coffee on arrival.
Gosford Sailing Club’s third cruise day on Friday 2nd December was appreciated by 3 GSC boats who enjoyed idyllic conditions sailing across Broken Bay to a raft-up destination in Towler’s Bay, Pittwater. Elusive Spirit, Wind Wisper and Eggsilante meandered down the Ettalong S’s to open their vertical wings on reaching Broken Bay and enjoy a lazy pressure-free sail to a calm rendezvous destination. Pilgrim’s Progress joined Wind Whisper later for the evening just when it was time for Elusive Spirit and Eggsilante to depart for home, but not before ES sailed further south and explored some of the familiar bays and lovely vessels that Pittwater has to offer.
Eggsilante conveyed 2 crew members off Wind Whisper back across Broken Bay with the intention to drop them off at Ettalong wharf. People would know that it is a challenging exercise as the tide is fierce and the gap to bridge is over a metre, when you don’t have a gang-plank! So we worked out an interesting solution whereby on the first pass they threw their gear onto the wharf and on the next, jumped off the boat and swam ashore to the beach and the retrieval of their packs!
So on the next cruise day, you have a decision.
Do I leave my boat on its mooring for another day of deterioration, missed opportunity and neglect, or do I use it for the reason I bought it; take both the day off work and the boat off the mooring and sail it to a destination with no pressure and only sheer enjoyment….
Watch for a date yet to be set in February.
