Twilight in the South Pacific

GSC held a fantastic and joyous twilight sailing race last Wednesday evening with 26 yachts braving the tough conditions. There were threats of thunderstorms throughout the race though thankfully the storm rolled into the West leaving the competitors to battle it out on the water.

Sailors donned colourful floral shirts and grass skirts to celebrate the monthly Twilight Sailing theme night South Pacific. A total of 69 sailors enjoyed the after sailing party by singing the chorus to songs from South Pacific the Musical with resident Race Officer Band, Peter Leslie and Liz Ross.

Moving on to the results, Granny Jen took out 1st place in Division 1 followed closely by Even Finer in 2nd place and Aeolian in 3rd. Division 2 saw True Blue taking a win in 1st place, Swagman coming in 2nd and Camille finishing in 3rd place. Magpie won 1st place in Division 3 with La Polo finishing in 2nd place and Nirvana II placed in 3rd.

The Sportsboats were in close competition with GSCA3 Rivers in 1st, GSCA1 Robson taking 2nd place and GSCA4 SG Fleet in 3rd. Eggsilante was awarded the title for Best Decorated Boat while Soul Sister sailors were named Best Dressed Crew.

The Lucky Draw Prize went to John on-board GSCA3 Rivers and Granny Jen’s Marie who each took home a bottle of Wild Oats wine. Sailors of Even Finer, Swagman and Magpie scored a meat tray from Coastwide Meats.

Congratulations to all competitors!
