A Windy Start To The Sailing Season!

It was a fantastic start to the sailing season last weekend with westerly winds keeping sailors on their toes! After a safety briefing and season opener conducted by Sailing Manager Peter Walsh, controversy struck as to whether sailing should commence. This followed as some forecasts predicted up to 35 knots of breeze! However, with the luck of the wind in Gosford Sailing Club’s favour, the breeze steadied to a gusty westerly of around 15-20 knots. Keen sailors were then able to stretch their legs and get out on the race track. Many classes undertook a total of 2 races, despite the glimpse of some capsized boats around the course! Overall sailors were able to come away marinated in salt, refreshed by the season opener series. We hope the breeze continues to play in our favour for this coming weekend!
