Australia Day Results

The 2018 Australia Day regatta was celebrated at GSC by many sailors from juniors sailing optimists to others with large yachts. All came together with dazzling costumes and dozens of blue-white flags, more than ready to try and fit just one more flag on the corner of their boat. The Annual Sail Past which took place at 11:00am saw our best-dressed take to the water. Special appearances with the marine rescue were made as sailor’s aimed towards the wonderful spray of water presented by marine rescue in an attempt to cool down in the hot Australian summer heat. By lunchtime more people and sailors arrived as the 2:00pm racing was about to take place. With a NE breeze coming in to everyone’s delight the racing was now ready to begin. With the special celebration of the Australia Day regatta, GSC also had to make the sailing course special, sending sailors in a variety of directions all around Brisbane Waters; a nice surprise to the usual triangle-course racing. The afternoon also saw many sailors gathering at the boat-shed bar. Prizes were presented to winners of each class/division, with some earning a further recognition of their achievements through an invitation to the Sydney Town Hall. Congratulations to all winners. Thankyou everyone who came and celebrated like true aussies at Gosford Sailing Club.
