Letter re ground closures
Due to the condition of both the internal and outside diamonds as a result of the constant recent wet weather, the grounds are not suitable for competition play.
Football goal posts are still up on the outside grounds and ACT Government has ruled that summer sports cannot play while they are still up for safety and insurance purposes.
Mowers and trucks to remove posts have not been able to access the grounds due to the wet grounds. Grass is still very long in places on playing areas.
The internal grounds have outfield areas that are still saturated and require a good run of warm weather without further rain to dry out, firm up for safe play and allow mowers on to cut the grass.
The skinned surfaces of diamonds one and two are still wet and also require time to allow machines to get on to complete refurbishment. If they get on early week we expect play to commence from Saturday 15th
Diamonds One and Two are off limited even for training until further notice.
Diamond three will be available for training this week end however it may be unavailable next week for trainings due to further refurbishment.
Further advices will be forthcoming on Monday.
I apologise for this inconvenience however we have a safety consideration for players, the condition of the grounds and we cannot control the weather.
Other sports are in similar predicament.
Can you please all distribute to your membership and post on media outlets.
