Taea Wins Silver in Vanuatu

Sprinter Patricia Taea added another medal to the Team Cook Islands tally after a powerful run in the women 100 metres dash at the Pacific Mini Games in Vanuatu on Monday (CI time).

 

Taea claimed the silver medal after finishing the race in 12.08 seconds.

The gold medal went to Papua New Guinea’s Toea Wisil, who clocked 12 seconds, while Fiji’s Makereta Naulu managed bronze medal in a time of 12.19s.

Taea finished first in the third 100m heats after clocking 12.03s, the second best time heading into the final.

In the final, the Australia-based athlete gave Wisil, the regional sprint queen, a mighty battle but was unable to beat her to the finish line
