2017 Asian Indoor Games

The Cook Islands will make its debut at the 5th Asian Indoor Games from September 17 to 27 hosted by Ashgabat,Turkmenistan. As this is the first invite for Oceania Countries to compete at the games, CISNOC set criterias for athletes of the Participating Codes to meet in order to be selected on the Team. Overall 11 Athletes have qualified to compete and represent the Cook Islands. Sport codes attending the games are swimming, weightlifting, Indoor Basketball and Athletics. 

Cook Island National sprinter Patricia Taea had indeed been selected to attend the Indoor games as she has previoulsy ran Indoor Competitions in 2016 and 2014. Sadly she will not be competing this year due to having an accident prior to leaving for the games,Taea was due to compete in the womens 60m.  Sole Athlete and Power house thrower Tereapii Tapoki is one of the selected athlete to represent the Cook Islands in Open Womens shot put. ACI bids Patty a speedy recovery and the best of luck to Tapoki.
