MGRL 2015/16 Season Kick-off

The MGRL 9’s Cup will see four clubs in Naracoorte Jets, Eastern Dragons, Blue Lake Knights and Horsham Panthers compete in a 14 week home-and-away competition on Saturday afternoons.

MGRL President Ben Goodman says the clubs and players are eager for the season to start after the success of the 2014/15 summer competition.

“All the boys have been eager to get out onto the field after a few months break over the winter season,” Mr Goodman says. “The Senior 9’s competition has been really successful and continues to grow and develop, and we will also be launching a women’s competition this season with the plan to instigate a junior competition in the near future.”

The Come ‘n’ Try Day is from 11am-1pm at Frew Park and is open to all junior, male and female participants interested in playing rugby league. MGRL will be running a skill and drill session to accommodate players of all levels.

Two weeks later, Round 1 will kick-off with Naracoorte Jets verse Eastern Dragons at 3pm, followed by the Blue Lake Knights verse the Horsham Panthers at 5pm in Naracoorte.

Games will be played in accordance to the ‘Rugby League Laws of the Game International Level with Notes on the Laws’ accommodating a 9-a-side format.

Anyone interested in participating is encouraged to contact MGRL’s Ben Goodman via bishopgoodman@gmail.com or find their local club via http://mountgambier.leaguenet.com.au .
