South Aussie Hotel 9’s Rugby League Cup

The event will feature seven local, intrastate and interstate teams in an all-day 9 a-side knock-out Carnival that will include family entertainment.

MGRL President Daniel Hansen is excited for the event that will showcase the game of rugby league to the Mount Gambier local community.

“The Carnival has teams traveling from interstate and regional areas of South Australia to compete, and will give our local teams great representative experience and our spectators will see some hard-hitting and competitive rugby league action,” Mr Hansen says.

Teams competing in the carnival include MGRL 2014 Premiers Naracoorte Jets, and other local teams in Gambier Warriors, South Eastern Dragons, Blue Lake Knights, Adelaide based team in Central District Roosters, and Victorian teams in a combined Ararat & Horsham, and Warrnambool Plovers.

The event will also include free children’s activities including a jumping castle, face painting, NRL give-aways and a Santa visit.

“We hope the Carnival will be a great day out for not just rugby league enthusiasts, but families to come and enjoy a sporting event in a family orientated environment,” Mr Hansen says.

With the upcoming 2014/2015 MGRL 9’s Summer Competition to start in early January, Mr Hansen also acknowledges the importance and benefits of this Carnival on the development of the game of rugby league.

“The Carnival is not only a great opportunity for the local community to see and experience rugby league action, but gives our new local competition recognition and the ability to grow its participants and supporters,” Mr Hansen says.
