NRL kicks off Friday night in Mt Gambier

The Mt Gambier RL 9’s Cup will see four newly formed rugby league clubs in Naracoorte Jets, Blue Lake Knights, Eastern Dragons, and Gambier Warriors compete in a six week competition on Friday nights.

Head of the Mt Gambier RL Steering Committee, Ben Goodman, says the community of Mt Gambier are excited for the upcoming competition.

“All the boys have been itching to get out onto the field since the South Australian Rugby League came up in late May this year,” Mr Goodman says. “The 9’s competition will be a great way to kick-off NRL in Mt Gambier with development plans for a female and even junior competition for Season 2015.”

Mt Gambier RL 9’s Cup Round 1 will commence this Friday night with Blue Lake Knights verse Naracoorte Jets at 6.30pm, and Gambier Warriors verse Eastern Dragons at 7.40pm.

Games will be played in accordance to the ‘Rugby League Laws of the Game International Level with Notes on the Laws’ accommodating a 9-a-side format.

Player registration forms will be available on the night for anyone wanting to join a club. Anyone who is unable to attend but are interested in becoming involved, please email Ben Goodman .
