Broadmeadow Magic 3 – 0 Adamstown Rosebud

Broadmeadow Magic returned to their premiership winning form as they recorded an impressive 3-0 win over Adamstown at Wanderers Oval on Sunday.

All three goals came in the opening forty five minutes in what was the only NPL game to go ahead in a rain affected weekend of football.

The opening goal came on the stroke of 18 minutes as Rhys Tippett added to his impressive goal tally with a nice run and finish at the front post.

Scott Pettit added a double after providing the assist for the opener, his first came on 32 minutes when he showed composure in a congested area to take his time with the outside of his foot with a great finish.

His second came just six minutes later when he was played in behind the defence from a long ball, and as Adamstown goalkeeper Scott Carter came out, Pettit took a touch around him and finished into an empty net.

A clinical performance from the home side in the opening forty five minutes and a well deserved lead going into the break.

Adamstown Rosebud started off well but handed over possession cheaply late in the half and were made to pay with some clinical Broadmeadow Magic finishing.

The visitors looked lively after the break and Matthew Comerford volleyed just wide after the restart.

However Broadmeadow’s defence was too good on the day with a fantastic display from their back four and Chris Bowling also thwarted several dangerous opportunities through his good positioning.

The win puts Broadmeadow Magic on 16 points now level with Edgeworth and Hamilton Olympic and just one behind Newcastle Jets Youth who they will meet in two weeks’ time.

Adamstown Rosebud will face Newcastle Jets Youth next week while Broadmeadow Magic is away to Weston Workers.
