Hamilton Olympic do battle with local rivals Broadmeadow Magic in our match of the round at Darling Street Oval on Sunday.
Both sides come into the contest in indifferent form as Hamilton Olympic is winless in their last two while Broadmeadow Magic has recorded just one win in the competition so far.
Far from the form that saw them both meet in the 2012 Grand Final as Broadmeadow Magic walked away emphatic winners.
Hamilton Olympic started well with wins against South Cardiff and Lake Macquarie City while getting a point away to Charlestown City Blues but have since gone down to Weston Workers and needed a last minute equaliser to salvage a point against a ten man Lambton Jaffas outfit.
Broadmeadow Magic recorded its first three points of the season on Wednesday night in their rescheduled fixture against Adamstown Rosebud recording a 3-2 win against a spirited home side.
Broadmeadows form has picked up in recent weeks but defensive errors and poor finishing is still letting them down as was the case with the 2-1 home defeat last week and is something that Coach Glen Chapman and his side will be working to rectify.
Both sides have a lot of history and a very healthy rivalry that seems to inspire the players, coaches and fans alike and this weekend will be no different.
Both sides will be hungry for the win to get their season back on track, Hamilton Olympic are still in a healthy position in fourth but again have lost ground in their last two games as they are now four points behind the leaders and will want to get back to the top.
Always great contests between these sides and it will be a very interesting game to watch.
Lambton Jaffas FC v Edgeworth FC

Lambton Jaffas welcomes Edgeworth Eagles to Arthur Edden Oval in round 6 of the NPL on Saturday.
Edgeworth remains the only undefeated side in the competition yet was overtaken by the Newcastle Jets Youth midweek who now occupies top spot on the ladder after the Eagles only managed a 1-1 draw against Lake Macquarie City in their rescheduled fixture on Wednesday night.
Lambton Jaffas have struggled early but will be greatly encouraged by their performance against Hamilton Olympic last week playing a man down away from home and it took a last minute equaliser from the home side to steal the three points away from them.
Lambton Jaffas will be without Jobe Wheelhouse this week who dislocated his shoulder in the clash against Olympic, along with Adrian Perisic who received two first half yellow cards and John Majurovski is also unavailable.
Lambton Jaffas Coach David Tanchevski said it “was the best performance of the year for us” against Hamilton Olympic having to battle a player down which made them step up to the level they had been working to get to, but knows it will be difficult again missing key personal against tough opposition.
Edgeworth Eagles showed their form in recent weeks after looking by far the better side against Newcastle Jets Youth and Weston Workers recording 2-0 victories on both occasions at home but will be disappointed not to pick up maximum points against the last placed side on Wednesday night.
Lambton Jaffas won the first meeting between these sides 3-2 last season and the second 4-3 in some very entertaining and action packed games of football, let’s hope this weekend’s game is much of the same at Lambton on Saturday.
Lake Macquarie City FC v Newcastle Jets Youth

Lake Macquarie City welcomes an inform Newcastle Jets Youth outfit to Macquarie Field on Saturday.
Since losing their rescheduled round one fixture against Edgeworth 2-0, the Jets Youth has gone on to record wins in all other matches including a 5-1 win over Adamstown Rosebud and 4-1 over South Cardiff midweek in their rescheduled fixture.
They have since overtaken Edgeworth Eagles to go top of the competition ladder after five rounds and look to be in great form with plenty of scoring options, notching up thirteen goals, the most of any side in the competition.
Lake Macquarie City have had some disappointing results at home including a 4-1 loss to Hamilton Olympic and 2-0 defeat to Adamstown Rosebud with some crucial errors letting them down at key moments in the match.
The Roosters did manage a 1-1 draw at home against the Edgeworth Eagles on Wednesday night in their rescheduled fixture which will give them confidence coming into the weekend.
Lake Macquarie City Coach Gary Rowe said “It’s going to depend if we show up on the day, we are almost back to full strength, in this competition any team can get a result playing to the best they can, we have to show up and play our best.”
They know they will need to be at their best this weekend against a very well structured side, having conceded the most goals in the competition, they come up against a good attacking side and will hope to keep them out in front of goal.
Charlestown City Blues FC v South Cardiff FC

Its eighth verses ninth as Charlestown City Blues faces South Cardiff at Lisle Carr Oval on Sunday.
Both sides have just one win to their name so far this season and will look get much needed points when they face each other at Lisle Carr Oval.
Charlestown City Blues started the season in emphatic fashion with an impressive 3-1 win away to Lambton Jaffas and backed it up with a solid 0-0 draw against Hamilton Olympic at home.
The Blues have since lost against Edgeworth Eagles 7-0 and Newcastle Jets Youth 3-2 and will look for their first win since the opening match of the season against the Gunners.
South Cardiff recorded their first win last week against Broadmeadow Magic with a 2-1 win away from home but went down 4-1 to Newcastle Jets Youth midweek with a late consolation goal from the penalty spot.
Both sides met on the opening day of the season last year and played out an entertaining 3-3 draw while South Cardiff won the second encounter 2-1
It should be another close game between these sides, both sides have seen their leads relinquished in recent weeks with Newcastle Jets Youth coming from behind to beat Charlestown last week and South Cardiff saw Adamstown come back to beat them 3-2 earlier in the season.
Both sides will know it’s not over to the final whistle and will drastically want the three points; it should go down to the wire and it will be a great game to watch at Lisle Carr Oval on Sunday.
Weston Workers FC v Adamstown Rosebud FC

Weston Workers will look to bounce back against Adamstown Rosebud at Rockwell Automation Park on Sunday after their first defeat of the season last week
Weston were disappointing away from home against Edgeworth Eagles but still sit nicely in third spot after an impressive start to the season
Adamstown Rosebud come into the contest full of confidence after recording their second successive win with a 2-0 win against Lake Macquarie last week.
Adamstown Rosebud Coach Anthony Richards was pleased with the win that saw them climb to sixth on the ladder and keep a clean sheet in the process, but saw his side go down 3-2 to Broadmeadow Magic midweek but will still take plenty away from the game.
Scott Carter has been the stand out for Adamstown Rosebud this season who had another good game midweek and they will need him to be in good form against Weston Workers this weekend.
Weston Workers will look to continue the impressive form that saw them defeat Hamilton Olympic 3-2 in their last home game and still sit just two points behind first place, looking to put last week behind them and move back to the top.
With the return of key personal for the home side it should give them the boost they need, up against a very hungry Adamstown Rosebud outfit it should be a great game to see how it develops at Rockwell Automation Park on Sunday.
