Preview:

Croydon Kings and White City will lock horns when they clash in the Westfield FFA Cup Qualifying Semi-Final at Adelaide Shores Football Centre tomorrow night. Both sides have shown great form in their respective runs and this promises to deliver.

Kings man-mountain of a goalkeeper Nick Munro said his side is playing with plenty of confidence, helped by one part of his side improving every match day.

“It certainly helps with the confidence and we’re lucky that we’re blessed with a lot of really good attackers in our team and so far it’s been good to get some goals into our strikers and our attackers. Hopefully we can continue that this week against White City.”

Despite their indifferent league campaign, Munro said the Kings won’t be taking their opponent lightly.

“We had a really hard game against them in the league few weeks ago so we know we’re going to be up for a real challenge. We know we’re going to be up against a real challenge and a game that could go for 120 minutes.”

“We won’t underestimate them, that’s for sure.”

Munro also said his side is ready for the drama a Cup brings.

“We’ve been training since November and doing preseason in readiness for extra time and if the game goes more than 90 minutes we’re confident in our fitness.”

Another man who enjoys the thrill of Cup football is White City’s enforcer Michael Keens who talked about the impact of beating quality teams from the PlayStation 4 National Premier League South Australia to make it this far.

“I think the results in the Cup shows that we are a good team and we can beat anyone on our day and in our Cup run, when we play well we’re as good as anyone in the League.”

Keens said his side can also take plenty from their most recent outing against the Kings.

“It was a pretty even game to be honest, we lost 1 nil and we had 2 players sent off and we still played quite well. I think Croydon are a good team but I think if we play well, we can get a result.”

He also knows the upcoming opposition isn’t short on talent but Keens was well aware of what his side needs to focus on.

“I think we’re concerned about what we do and what we do well and when we do that well in games we should get a result.”

In such a dire league campaign, Keens gave an insight into the positives the Westfield FFA Cup can bring.

“It’s massive for our club and our supporters. We’ve had a really up and down season in the League, being I think third to bottom so the Cup has been like a shining light. It keeps our hopes up and Wednesday night is massive for us.”
