FFSA Charity Round - Supporting beyondblue

In previous years Football Federation SA(FFSA) has conducted a charity round in support of the Call to Arms initiative. Following a review of the charities that FFSA support, the Board has endorsed a decision to support the charity beyondblue.

beyondblue is working to reduce the impact of depression and anxiety in the community by raising awareness and understanding, empowering people to seek help, and supporting recovery, management and resilience.

Depression is the leading cause of disability worldwide. In Australia, it is estimated that 45 per cent of people will experience a mental health condition in their lifetime. In any one year, around 1 million Australian adults have depression, and over 2 million have anxiety.

Most Australians have had some experience with anxiety, depression or a related condition, whether they've experienced it themselves or had family, friends or work colleagues go through it. beyondblue’s work is aimed at achieving an Australian community that understands depression and anxiety, empowering all Australians, at any life-stage, to seek help. It’s not surprising that someone in your club may have a personal story relating to their own battle or that of someone close to them.

By supporting beyondblue, we are able to assist through their programs, research and campaigns in increasing awareness of depression and anxiety, reducing stigma and discrimination, improving health seeking, reducing impact, disability and mortality, facilitating learning, collaboration, innovation and research.

As an illness that truly effects us all, we ask all clubs and associations support Charity Round and undertake fundraising activities in the lead up to and during the Charity Round.
