Ziada hat-trick leads Dandenong City win

By Matt McNamara

A hat trick from winger Keegan Ziada has seen Dandenong City thump the Goulburn Valley Suns in Shepparton on Saturday evening.

Centre Back John Carroll gave his side an early lead, breaking free from a corner to nod the ball home past Phil Petrovski.

But Ziada was the star of the show, two goals in the first half were followed by a stunning strike in the second to ensure the vistiors left with all three points but whilst Craig Carley was again on target for the Suns.

The Suns will be ruing some defensive lapses throughout the contest, with Carroll the initial benefiticairy of the Suns poor marking.  The tall defender rose highest and headed the ball home from an acute angle with only 10 minutes on the clock.

Zaida would extend the vistiors lead, albeit with a huge slice of luck.  After being played in behind the pint size wingers shot was saved by Petrovski before the rebound cannoned back into the net from Zaida’s body.

Things went from bad to worse for the home side just 2 minutes later when right back Fahed Algazal was sent off for violent conduct after throwing the ball at the face of an opponent.

But the home side found themselves with a glimmer of hope just before the interval when who else but Carley scored for the hosts when he was set free in behind the Dandenong defence.

The momentum had swing to the home side but with only seconds before the break Zaida would restore the two goal advantage with a neat finish after cutting in from the right hand side.

Zaida completed his hat trick in the 53rd minute to seal the points for the travelling City side, his third of the game coming from a delightful build up.

The visitors controlled the final stages of the match whilst the home side continued to press on in search of a consolation goal but it wasn’t to be as City ran out 4-1 winners.
