Green Gully and Pascoe Vale played out a one all draw at Green Gully Reserve on Saturday afternoon.

Matthew Breeze’s chip in the 19th minute put the home side ahead before Pascoe Vale then equalised just past the hour mark through Davey Van’t Schip’s header.

Gully was forced into a change just before kick-off with striker Liam Boland injuring himself in the warm up; he was replaced by Rinor Muriqi.

Despite being without the league’s top scorer, Gully looked dangerous on the attack from the outset.

The home side took the lead in the 19th minute through a clever quick free kick from Rodrigo Vargas on the halfway line which lobbed perfectly over the Pascoe Vale defence.

Matthew Breeze was able to beat the offside trap and guide the ball over the oncoming Alexander Pavlidis.

Green Gully continued to dominate for most of the half, creating chance after chance but failing to find a way into Pavlidis’ goal.

Pascoe Vale had a great opportunity to equalise in the 41st minute however, Matthew Lazarides’ shot hit the side netting.

Simon Tolli nearly doubled Gully’s advantage, with his long-range shot forcing Pavlidis into a great save.

The restart saw the momentum of the match shift completely in favour of the away side.

The opening 10 minutes of the second stanza saw the visitors create plenty of chances, the best of which fell to Davey Van’t Schip, whose headed effort, with his back to goal, forced Rani Dowisha into a save.

Just before the hour mark, a collision of heads saw Pascoe Vale’s Adam Nakic stretchered off the ground after a lengthy delay.

Once play resumed Pascoe Vale capitalised on its early pressure and equalised.

A good run down the flank saw Luca Santilli cross the ball into the box, with Van’t Schip there to head it past Dowisha.

Both sides continued to push for a goal in a highly physical contest but neither side could create that winning opportunity, with the teams ultimately sharing the points.
