Hume has triumphed 1-0 over Green Gully in a fairly one-sided affair at ABD Stadium, Valley Park on Friday night.

Despite being wasteful at times in front of goal, a Shaun Timmins header on 72 minutes was enough to earn the hosts the points.

From the first whistle Hume looked dangerous in attack, exploiting the wings with great efficiency.

It took only seven minutes for Hume to create its first goalscoring opportunity as a pinpoint cross from Ivan Pavlak found the darting run from Jai Ingham, whose side foot volley skewed just wide of the right post

After a period of a few incomplete half chances, Hume nearly went one up on 21 minutes when Deng Aguek found space in the box, however a great smother from Gully custodian Rani Dowisha kept the game deadlocked.

Gully's only first half response to Hume's dominance was a sweetly struck long-range strike from Jem Berkant, which forced a good save from Hume custodian Chris Oldfield.

The chance of the half came on 35 minutes when a strike from Hume skipper Nick Hegarty deflected over Dowisha and struck the crossbar, which saw it bounce back on the line and out.

The second half showed no signs of Hume's dominance fading away.

Just after 53 minutes, after being put through on goal, Hegarty's strike just fizzed past the right side of the goal, leaving Dowisha rooted to his spot.

At the hour mark, a corner found the head of Matt Hennessy who slammed the ball toward goal, but it was Dowisha to the rescue again as he palmed the ball over the bar with what was the save of the match

The seemingly inevitable Hume goal came after 72 minutes when a brilliant corner found Shaun Timmins free at the back post, as his textbook header bounced onto the goal line and into the back of the net.

Timmins goal was enough to seal Hume the three points.
