Heritage Round To Feature Traditional Derby
Round nine plays host to heritage round for Heidelberg United’s clash with South Melbourne, in what they call the North South Derby. In what is certainly the match of the round, the ‘Bergers’ will look to keep in touch with the top two sides following their 1-0 loss last Friday night to Bentleigh Greens. However South Melbourne will be looking for an upset win, to ensure they’re clear of the bottom few sides for the time being.
The first time these two sides met was on a Monday in March, in 1964. 54 years later and over 100 games between the two heavyweights lead us to now, where ladder positions will mean nothing. Heidelberg will be outing their original kit in honour of heritage round, a kit Archie Thompson and Tara Rushton enjoyed wearing on Just For Kicks on Fox Sports.
Olympic Village is set to be full on Saturday Night when these two teams do battle. Kickoff is at 7pm with the U20s set to kick off at 5pm.
