South Melbourne Crowned Champions
South Melbourne survived three Geelong Galaxy United comebacks to triumph in an epic PlayStation 4 NPL Women’s grand final on Sunday.
South led 2-0 after 29 minutes via goals from Lisa Devanna and Natalie Martineau and was in front 3-2 in extra-time, yet was forced to a penalty shoot-out at Broadmeadows Valley Park.
A tense penalty shootout ended in substitute Caitlin Greiser securing the win for South with a well-taken spot-kick.
