PS4 NPL League Structure Announced
The PlayStation® 4 National Premier Leagues will return in 2016 with an adjustment to the competition names for the top two tiers of Victorian Football.
In order to bring Victoria into line with the rest of Australia, the top tier of Victorian football will be known as PlayStation® 4 National Premier Leagues Victoria, while the second tier will be a two-conference competition known as PlayStation® 4 National Premier Leagues 2 East and PlayStation® 4 National Premier Leagues 2 West respectively.
Promotion and relegation between the two PS4 NPL divisions will remain the same as 2015, with the bottom two in PS4 NPL automatically relegated and the champion of the PS4 NPL 2 East and PS4 NPL 2 West conferences automatically promoted.
The runners-up in PS4 NPL 2 East and PS4 NPL 2 West will then take part in a play-off, the winner of which will advance to a promotion-relegation play-off against the third-last (12th) team in PS4 NPL.
To account for the location of the relegated teams in 2015, Brunswick City has been moved from the Western to Eastern conference in 2016.
Round 1 will be played on the weekend of February 19-22, 2016 for both PS4 NPL and PS4 NPL 2, while the Grand Final for PS4 NPL Victoria will be September 17-18, 2016.
The full fixture will be released on Friday, December 18, 2015.
Changes to the divisions for 2016 are as follows:
PS4 NPL
In: Melbourne Victory, Richmond SC, FC Bulleen Lions
Out: North Geelong Warriors, Dandenong Thunder, Werribee City
PS4 NPL 2 West
In: North Geelong Warriors, Werribee City
Out: FC Bulleen Lions, Brunswick City
PS4 NPL 2 East
In: Brunswick City, Dandenong Thunder
Out: Richmond SC, Melbourne Victory
