Nunawading City are still yet to register a point this year after being demolished 7-1 by a systematic Kingston City.

Not having won in three weeks, Kingston were relentless until the final whistle; Damian Iaconis starring with four goals and one assist.

The damp conditions seemed to assist Nunawading early on, allowing them to stay in touch with the away team while both teams struggled to control possession.

Kingston’s Benjamin Osei-Safo was left with space on the wing throughout the game and punished Nunawading.

10 minutes in, he put a cross in between two defenders and into striker Sean McIlroy but the wet surface left the ball skidding past all three.

Nunawading’s Stefan Papageorgiou also had an opportunity to slot an easy goal and put them up 1-0, but Kingston’s goalkeeper Douglas Lindberg made a sturdy save.

At the 27-minute mark, Kingston’s McIlroy set up Stelios Konstantinidis who slotted an easy first goal of the match.

On 40 minutes, Iaconis found space in the box and placed it into the back of the net with a header.

Soon after, a poorly-measured pass by Nunawading defender Dylan Facci put the ball onto the laces of McIlroy to score, and Kingston went into the half-time break with a 3-0 lead.

As the game continued, Kingston only seemed to improve and control the play more.

Nunawading’s high press worked at times, but left them open on the rebound by Kingston, and Osei-Safo continued to wreak havoc with the amount of space left to him on the wing.

At the 60-minute mark, Iaconis took advantage of a fast break past the defence, passing it around the keeper to Konstantinidis who claimed his second goal.

Iaconis followed up soon after with a second goal of his own.

Osei-Safo placed another perfect cross onto the toes of Iaconis in the 78th minute and Iaconis claimed his hat-trick, with Kingston now leading 5-0.

Iaconis didn’t wait long to strike again, and in the 83rd minute put through another to make it an impressive tally of four for the day.

Nunawading finally claimed a goal seconds later through striker Emile Damey, but they would still finish the game with a poor 7-1 defeat.

And their first win of the season may still be a while away - next week they face the top-of-the-table Melbourne Victory team.
