Dandy City sinks GV Suns with 4-0 win

By MATTHEW McNAMARA

Dandenong City has recorded an emphatic 4-0 victory over a struggling Goulburn Valley Suns on Saturday afternoon.

A brace from Ashley Cattermole, and goals to Sean Seavill and Keegan Ziada helped the home side record an emphatic victory.

A drab first half saw a match of very few chances, with both teams well matched.

The home side did have two excellent chances however, with Suns defenders Naum Sekulovski and Fahad Alghazaly both required to clear the ball off the goal line early on as City looked to gain the ascendancy.

Sean Ellis again looked the most likely for the travelling Suns, and just before half time his left footed strike was unlucky to just wide.

But after the break the home side let loose.

Seavill, so often the creator for City, this turn timed finisher as he pounced on a loose ball in the area to drill home a 1-0 lead.

Andy Jerez, playing in a more defensive role in the absence of Chris Ross through suspension, delivered a pin point ball moments later to Cattermole.  Cattermole rose above Greg Nash at the back post to double the home sides advantage.

The Suns’ task was made even harder only three minutes later when Cattermole grabbed his double after yet another scramble in the box.

Dandenong’s domination continued, and they should have extended their lead further after Seavill broke through but Phil Petrovski was on hand to keep his side in the game.

However, with only 13 minutes remaining the result was sealed when Zaida broke through and cheekily lobbed the ball over the advancing Petrovski.

The visitors never really looked like scoring until the 88th minute when substitute Vani Shamoon struck a rocket towards the top corner, only for Damir Salcin to pull out one of the saves of the year to deny the youngster.

Dandenong City play host to Moreland City next weekend whilst the Sun’s are back at home against St. Albans
