NPL Player of the Month: Jeremy Walker

Winning Edge Presentations NPL Player of the Month, Rounds 13-16 - Jeremy Walker (Hume City)

It has been quite an interesting couple of months for Jeremy Walker.

Having been released from Melbourne Heart at the end of April after making just three Hyundai A-League appearances, the fullback teamed-up with Hume City during the mid-season transfer window and left a lasting impression.

Walker made his Hume debut in a tough loss against Bentleigh Greens, but still managed to have an impact that would carry over into his next four appearances.

The Tasmanian was a constant danger bombing up and down the right flank, causing trouble in matches against Northcote and Werribee, while having an outstanding 90 minute shift in Hume's 1-0 win over Dandenong Thunder.

No wonder Hume City coach Lou Acevski sung the praises for Walker in his brief and successful cameo, while he also wished him all the best for his trials overseas.

"Jeremy has been a great find for us," Acevski said.

"He has an exceptional attitude to the game.

"We signed him for a short stint to fill a void. He came and achieved exactly what we anticipated.

"It's very appropriate that he has left the country on a high to try his luck overseas. Winning the Player of the Month is a great way to end his stint with us."

Walker made his sixth and last appearance for Hume on the weekend in a 2-0 loss against South Melbourne and having shown the resolve to bounce back from losing his professional contract, there's nothing stopping the former Oakleigh player from Ulverstone, Tasmania, in his quest to push on with his career.

The NPL Player of the Month is voted by FFV’s match reporters in a 3-2-1 voting system for each match.
