Red Devils to play Melbourne City
Ballarat Red Devils will play host to Melbourne City in a Hyundai A-League pre-season friendly on June 25, with the fixture to be hosted at Morshead Park.
Newly-branded Melbourne City began its pre-season training on June 9, and the Red Devils will be its first opponents for the upcoming 2014/15 season.
It will also be the first time Ballarat do battle against Hyundai A-League opposition, and Ballarat chairman Duncan Smith is excited about the prospect of playing against Melbourne City.
“This is what we wanted when we first talked about building a football stadium in Ballarat; the opportunity to bring matches like this to the region,” Smith said.
“We hope this will be the first of many clubs and teams that come to Ballarat to train and play on what I believe is the best stadium in regional Victoria.
“We are now starting to build up the awareness that Ballarat is a very good option for teams to come to, now that we have a fantastic stadium and a Red Devils team in the NPL.”
