South Melbourne makes the pledge

South Melbourne FC says it is proud to be supporting the national ‘Fatality Free Friday’ road safety campaign, which will take place on May 30.

Fatality Free Friday is recognised as Australia’s only national community-based road safety program, and has successfully fostered community ownership and complex road safety issues, while encouraging those who can make a significant difference in reducing road trauma.

South Melbourne pledged its support for the campaign by signing a pledge board and a large inflatable car provided by its principal partner Bob Jane T-Marts.

The club’s general manager, Peter Kokotis, said South Melbourne was committed to supporting positive initiatives off the field.

“Our club is not just about the football on the park, but also playing an active and leading role in the community and raising awareness of such initiatives,” Kokotis told South Melbourne's official website.

“We thank our players for their involvement and ask all our supporters and corporate partners to be mindful of other road users and stay safe on the roads.”
