Season preview: Heidelberg United
2013 finish: Heidelberg United won the State League 1 championship, finishing four points clear of fellow NPL club Werribee City.

The gaffer: George Katsakis has been an integral part of the Heidelberg United for many years, and last year guided the club to the State League 1 championship. The Bergers say Katsakis’ commitment to coaching and his passion for the club is “unquestionable”, and that he is excited to be guiding the club in the inaugural NPL.
One to watch: Griffin McMaster has returned to the club he played with in 2011, in a season which saw him win the VPL Goalkeeper of the Year award. McMaster had a stint with Oakleigh Cannons last season and is a former A-League player with Brisbane Roar. His signing is huge for Heidelberg.
