2013 TEAM VANUATU TO MINI PG IN WALLIS&FUTUNA

2013 Mini Pacific Games was hosted in Wallis and Futuna from 2nd September to 12th September 2013. Team Vanuatu was lead by Thibault MONTAGNON as Chef de Mission.

The Vanuatu delegation was composed of 37 athletes and 10 Officials,it was the most successful Team mainly because, for the first time in history, two gold medals were won.more

2012 TEAM VANUATU TO LONDON OLYMPICS

The Team Vanuatu to the London Olympic Games was the biggest to an Olympic Games since 1988.

2011 TEAM VANUATU TO 14th PG IN NEW CALEDONIA

A total of 199 people (144 Athletes & 51 Officials) were in Team Vanuatu. Sports were, Archery, Athletics, Basketball, BeachVolleyball, Boxing, Cricket, Football,Judo,Karate,Rugby 7's, Squash, Surfing, Taekwondo, Table-Tennis, Tennis & Volleyball.

Team won 17 Medals - (1G, 8S and 8B).BVolleyball (1G), Athletics (1S, 1B), Boxing (1S,2B),Karate (1S,1B),Table-Tennis (1S,1B), Taekwondo (1S), Tennis (3S),Cricket (1B) & Judo (2B).

First-time over half of sports in a Team Vanuatu to PG won medals.

2010 TEAM VANUATU TO DELHI CWG

The 19th Commonwealth Games was held in Delhi, India from 3 to 14 October.

Sports that Vanuatu competed in were Athletics, Table-Tennis and Weightlifting.

2010 TEAM VANUATU TO 1st YOG, SINGAPORE

Vanuatu participated in the first-ever Youth Olympic Games that was held in Singapore from 14 to 26 August in the sport of Football (M) and Womens 3x3 Basketball competition.

The Chef de Mission was James Kalo Malau. Medical Docter was Dr Andy Ilo and Physio, Mr Albert Kaiapam.

2009 TEAM VANUATU TO RAROTONGA PMG

The 2009 Team Vanuatu for the Pacific Mini-Games consisted of 3 sports, Athletics, Table-Tennis and Tennis.

It beat the record set by the 2005 Team to the Palau games, when ALL 3 sports in the Team, won at least a medal!

2007 TEAM VANUATU TO 13th SPG, SAMOA

These are the list of ALL members of Team Vanuatu to the 13th SPG in Apia, Samoa in 2007:

The Team included Athletics, Boxing, Football (Men), Golf,Netball, Rugby Sevens, Table-Tennis, Tennis and Volleyball (Beach).

Out of 9 sports in the Team, 5 won medals, they were Athletics, Boxing, Football, Table-Tennis and Beach Volleyball.

This was better than the 2003 SPG where Team Vanuatu had 12 sports, and 5 of them won medals!

The 2007 Team, included 122 persons included 99 Athletes.more

2006 TEAM VANUATU TO 18th COM GAMES, MELBOURNE

These are ALL the members of the 2006 Team Vanuatu to the 18th Commonwealth Games that was held in Melbourne, Australia.

This was the first Commonwealth Games that had given us the opportunity to host the Queens Baton Relay in October 2005.

It was first-time for Table-Tennis to be included in Team Vanuatu for these Games. The only sports that have been part of the Team to the Commonwealth Games since the Brisbane Games in 1982, were Athletics,Boxing and Cycling.

This Team had the youngest Athlete in the Games in Yoshua Shing of Table-Tennis.more

2005 TEAM VANUATU TO PALAU MINI-GAMES

The most successful Team Vanuatu to a Mini-Pacific Games was this Team that comprised two sports, Athletics and Table-Tennis.

They won 2 Gold medals, 3 Silvers and 1 Bronze. In fact all the Athletes returned with a medal.

Table-Tennis prodigy Priscilla Tommy made her mark in the sport by reaching the finals of every event (except the Mixed Doubles) on offer in the Women's Table-Tennis Competition.

She won Silver in the singles competition, Silver in the Doubles and Gold in the Team Event.

Moses Kamut blizted his way to two national records,10.67 and a Gold medal in the 100m and Silver in 200m.more

This was to Team Vanuatu to the 2004 Olympic Games held in Athens, Greece.more
2003 Team Vanuatu

2003 TEAM VANUATU TO 12th SPG, FIJI

These are the Members of the 2003 Team Vanuatu that participated in the 12th SPG in Suva, Fiji.

This is the biggest number ever sent to a SPG with 231 Members including 172 Athletes in 12 different sports. The new discipline in the Team was the Women's Football Team.

Indoor Volleyball was also making it's return to the Team since their last Games in 1995 in Tahiti.

A total of 21 Medals were won including 2 Golds in Table-Tennis and Boxing. The other sports that won medals for Vanuatu were Athletics, Football and Karate.

Football won their second Bronze in an SPG after the one they won in the second Games in New Caledonia in 1966.

This Team had a Medics Team and also accredited a Media Team.

Also for the first-time, Vanuatu had a high number of Technical Officials participating in an SPG.more

2002 TEAM VANUATU TO 17th COM GAMES, MANCHESTER

The 2002 Team Vanuatu to the 17th Commonwealth Games in Manchester, England again consisted of only Athletics.

2001 TEAM VANUATU TO NORFOLK MINI-GAMES

The 2001 Team Vanuatu to the South Pacific Mini-Games that were held in Norfolk Islands in December consisted of only Athletics and Netball. The only medals won were a Silver and Bronze by Jimmy SANDY (Molu) of Athletics in the 10,000m and 5,000m events.

2000 TEAM VANUATU TO THE SYDNEY OLYMPICS

The 2000 Team Vanuatu again had the sport of Athletics in it but this time and for the first-time Vanuatu managed to have an Athlete in the sport of Archery who qualified on merit for the Games.

It was also the first Olympics for Vanuatu that had given us the opportunity to stage the Olympic Torch Relay a fews earlier.more

1999 TEAM VANUATU TO 11th SPG, GUAM

The Team Vanuatu that participated in these Games won a total of 22 medals - the best performance so far in terms of Medal's won.

It was to be the swanson event for Vanuatu's Golden Mother, Mary Estelle Mahuk (nee Kapalu) whose blizted the 400m hurdles events and recorded the only two Gold medals won by Vanuatu.

1991 TEAM VANUATU TO 9th SPG, PNG

The absence of an official Team Vanuatu in the 1987 SPG in Noumea on the instructions of the Government in support of pro-Independant movement in New Caledonia had taken it's toll and the country was back with to not mix sport and politics ever again!

This was evidenced for the first-time ever by by the presence of Minister of Internal Affairs, Hon.Edward Nipake as an athlete in the Cricket Team (pictured).

This Team was the biggest Vanuatu team to participate in the SPG with over 100 persons for the first time.

1987 TEAM VANUATU TO THE 8th SPG, NEW CALEDONIA

The only sport to participate in this Team Vanuatu was Football.

This Team was lead by Kalman Kiri who being President of VFF and the Vanuatu NOC President, rightfully objected to the Government's decision for Vanuatu to boycott the Games.more

There were 7 Athletes in the sport of Boxing and Athetics who competed in the Edinburgh Games.more

1985 TEAM VANUATU TO THE 2nd PACIFIC MINI-GAMES, COOK ISLANDS

Team Vanuatu won a total of 7 medals - 1 Gold, 4 Silver and 2 Bronze and came 9th out of 15 countries in medal tally.

The Gold medal was won by Jerry Jeremiah in the 100m.

Vanuatu won 10 medals, all in Athletics with George Taniel clinching only Gold Medal in the 100m and the other 9, were all Bronze medals.

These Games would be the last Games that Vanuatu would be participating in under the name, "New Hebrides".

The Silver medal won by Vanuatu Cricket would have to be the stand-out performance of Team Vanuatu in these Games.

1971 TEAM VANUATU at SPG, PAPEETE, TAHITI

The highlight for Vanuatu in these Games would have to be the Silver-medal win by the Football Team who beat the hosts 2-1 in the semi-finals and fell to the New Caledonia's semi-professional players in the finals by 5-2.

1969 TEAM VANUATU TO SPG, PORT MORESBY, PNG

These Games will be remembered by Vanuatu as the Games that saw Team Vanuatu win it's first-ever Gold medal!

It was in the 4x100 Men's Relay Team comprised of speedstars Charles Godden, Seru Korikalo, Jean Tranut and Yves Rolland.
