The Vanuatu delegation was composed of 37 athletes and 10 Officials,it was the most successful Team mainly because, for the first time in history, two gold medals were won.more
A total of 199 people (144 Athletes & 51 Officials) were in Team Vanuatu. Sports were, Archery, Athletics, Basketball, BeachVolleyball, Boxing, Cricket, Football,Judo,Karate,Rugby 7's, Squash, Surfing, Taekwondo, Table-Tennis, Tennis & Volleyball.

Vanuatu participated in the first-ever Youth Olympic Games that was held in Singapore from 14 to 26 August in the sport of Football (M) and Womens 3x3 Basketball competition.

The Team included Athletics, Boxing, Football (Men), Golf,Netball, Rugby Sevens, Table-Tennis, Tennis and Volleyball (Beach).
Out of 9 sports in the Team, 5 won medals, they were Athletics, Boxing, Football, Table-Tennis and Beach Volleyball.
This was better than the 2003 SPG where Team Vanuatu had 12 sports, and 5 of them won medals!

This was the first Commonwealth Games that had given us the opportunity to host the Queens Baton Relay in October 2005.
It was first-time for Table-Tennis to be included in Team Vanuatu for these Games. The only sports that have been part of the Team to the Commonwealth Games since the Brisbane Games in 1982, were Athletics,Boxing and Cycling.
This Team had the youngest Athlete in the Games in Yoshua Shing of Table-Tennis.more
They won 2 Gold medals, 3 Silvers and 1 Bronze. In fact all the Athletes returned with a medal.
Table-Tennis prodigy Priscilla Tommy made her mark in the sport by reaching the finals of every event (except the Mixed Doubles) on offer in the Women's Table-Tennis Competition.
She won Silver in the singles competition, Silver in the Doubles and Gold in the Team Event.
Moses Kamut blizted his way to two national records,10.67 and a Gold medal in the 100m and Silver in 200m.more
This is the biggest number ever sent to a SPG with 231 Members including 172 Athletes in 12 different sports. The new discipline in the Team was the Women's Football Team.
Indoor Volleyball was also making it's return to the Team since their last Games in 1995 in Tahiti.
A total of 21 Medals were won including 2 Golds in Table-Tennis and Boxing. The other sports that won medals for Vanuatu were Athletics, Football and Karate.
Football won their second Bronze in an SPG after the one they won in the second Games in New Caledonia in 1966.
This Team had a Medics Team and also accredited a Media Team.
Also for the first-time, Vanuatu had a high number of Technical Officials participating in an SPG.more
It was also the first Olympics for Vanuatu that had given us the opportunity to stage the Olympic Torch Relay a fews earlier.more
The Team Vanuatu that participated in these Games won a total of 22 medals - the best performance so far in terms of Medal's won.
It was to be the swanson event for Vanuatu's Golden Mother, Mary Estelle Mahuk (nee Kapalu) whose blizted the 400m hurdles events and recorded the only two Gold medals won by Vanuatu.more

The absence of an official Team Vanuatu in the 1987 SPG in Noumea on the instructions of the Government in support of pro-Independant movement in New Caledonia had taken it's toll and the country was back with to not mix sport and politics ever again!
This was evidenced for the first-time ever by by the presence of Minister of Internal Affairs, Hon.Edward Nipake as an athlete in the Cricket Team (pictured).
This Team was the biggest Vanuatu team to participate in the SPG with over 100 persons for the first time.more
Team Vanuatu won a total of 7 medals - 1 Gold, 4 Silver and 2 Bronze and came 9th out of 15 countries in medal tally.
The Gold medal was won by Jerry Jeremiah in the 100m.more
