Vanuatu going after 3 more medals as Table Tennis enters finals today
XVPG Village 10 July 2015: Like all else in Vanuatu, they may have been devastated by category 5 cyclone Pam but the local tennis champions are not out.
The Anolyn and Yoshua led Table Tennis Vanuatu team were the first to secure Bronze for their country in their team competition, and today Anolyn, Yoshua and Stephanie are playing in the quarter finals.
Team Leader Anolyn is confident that her team would win more medals today, despite losing two of their medal hopes in Ham and Rosanne yesterday.
"Ham played really well against the New Caledonian player whom he had lost to in our teams competition. But today was different,.. Ham fought hard,.. the New Caledonian was leading 3 sets to one already, but Ham managed to come back and catching up with him on 3 sets.
"The final match as you saw was anybody's game.. and unfortunately it went to New Caledonia, but I am really happy the way Ham had bounced back to put up a tough fight", Anolyn says.
Earlier in the week Vanuatu missed out on an opportunity to win gold in the para table tennis when Mary Ramel lost to New Caledonia.
