The Republic of Kiribati (pronounced Kiri-bass) is a small Pacific Island country made up of 32 atolls and one raised coral island. It has a population of approximately 100,000 people. Kiribati is a tropical country and is hot and humid all year round. It has two seasons, a wet season, and a dry season. The wet seasons go from February to the end of May, and from mid September to the end of November.

Kiribati has a long and colourful history, dating all the way back to 200 AD with the arrival of Micronesians in the South Pacific. Nowadays, Kiribati is a republic country, with beautiful beaches and thriving marine life.

Kiribati made its Olympic debut at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games and in 2012 qualified an athlete on merit to the Olympic Games in London, United Kingdom.
