Guam's History of Participation

 

Pacific Games (formerly South Pacific Games)

Guam has been an active participant and enthusiastic supporter of the South Pacific Games since it was first held in Fiji during 1963.

Guam has attended every Games since 1966 where it took a bronze medal in men's basketball. Basketball have won a medal in 8 of 11 SPG Tournaments attended, which is an outstanding achievement in a team sport.

Guam successfully hosted the 1975 and the 1999 South Pacific Games and through Ric Blas, held the Presidency of the South Pacific Games Council from 1999 - 2003.

The majority of medals won by Guam have come from the sport of swimming, with around 33% of the medals won by Guam.
