1st Guam Woman to qualify for the Olympic Games

Guam Amateur Wrestling Federation's Maria Dunn won gold for Guam at the Senior Oceania Championship which took place Canberra, Australia on February 8-10, 2008. This makes her the first Guamanian woman in the sport of wrestling to qualify for the Olympic Games which will take place in August of 2008 in Beijing, China.

Maria Dunn won the female wrestling in the 63kg. category against Australia's Lin Donevska. Maria, as well as 6 other wrestlers were among the qualified for the Olympic Games. They were selected by a special commission formed of the Oceania Committee and the FILA technical delegate, Mr. Ik-Jong Kim.

*All entries are subject to approval by the Guam National Olympic Committee Board.
