Fiji National Sports Commission trainers deliver OSEP Community Courses in the North
The Fiji National Sports Commission Team which is an in-country Training Provider conducted its first community program in Labasa which attracted 29 youths from Bua and Macuata.
Long travelling participants took a while to arrive in Labasa but the Team was well prepared and ready to deliver the course.
As participants were coming in, they were given VARK Questionnaires which helped the trainers identify learning styles and needs. Master Educator Joji Liga presented an overview of the Fiji National Sports Commission followed by Master Educator Lemeki’s presentations on OSEP and FASANOC Overviews.
At 11.00am the program officially started with a short formality where the Principal Youth Officer with the Ministry of Youth and Sport, North, Mr Taniela Tuinaceva. Mr Tuinaceva stressed the importance of attending this training as it equips youth workers with the skill sets to establish and sustain community clubs.
The participants were then introduced through a profiling activity where they interviewed partners to gather information on them. A portrait based on the interview was then prepared by each participant who then introduced their partners as a diagnostic assessment task.
Lunch followed at 2.15pm then Moduel 1 kicked off with Epeli delivering the session.
In the afternoon Module 2 was introduced followed by a review of Day Ones session.
The wide engagement of participants in activities planned for the day was a positive indication of things to come in the two days remaining. The positive contributions of Lemeki Savua who was the Course Coordinator and OSEP Representative ensured every aspect of the program was kept in perspective.
