Hall of Fame and Fiji Olympic Order

The FIJI SPORTS HALL OF FAME was inaugurated in 1990 by the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee, as an everlasting tribute to sportsmen and sportswomen of Fiji.

The Hall of Fame acknowledges and honours Fiji’s super athletes who for over 65 years have competed in Fiji and abroad against the best in the world. Many have excelled and brought glory and fame to themselves, their sport and to Fiji as a nation and deserve to be recognized and remembered by the people of Fiji.

FASANOC is able to provide the avenue for recognition of these great sportspeople through the Fiji Sports Hall of Fame that is currently based at Fiji Olympic House, Suva.

Every year nominations are called for from National Sporting bodies and members of the general public. FASANOC is grateful to those who support this prestigious Awards recognition initiative.

The selection of the successful candidates is the responsibility of an independent panel of judges, whose decision is final.

Forty “all time Fiji sporting greats” have been inducted into the FIJI SPORTS HALL OF FAME.

FIJI OLYMPIC ORDER

Since the inauguration of the Fiji Sports Hall of Fame in 1990 it became very apparent that for an athlete to succeed in his or her chosen sport, there is also a band of volunteers who freely give of their time and resources to ensure that those athletes in their charge do succeed.

The Fiji Olympic Order was inaugurated in 2001 to recognize the invaluable contributions of volunteers in the areas of:

• Sports Administration
• Sports Management
• Coaching/Technical aspects of Sports Development
• Sports Medicine

Every year nominations are called for from National Sporting Federation bodies and members of the general public. FASANOC is grateful to those who support this prestigious Awards recognition initiative.

The selection of the successful candidates is the responsibility of an independent panel of judges, whose decision is final.

To qualify as a nominee for this prestigious award the individual must have excelled and contributed at the highest level of service in the development of sports for a minimum of 15 years.

However, extraordinary services provided over a shorter period of time resulting in the attainment of a high level of performance shall be worthy of consideration and recognition.
