The ORADO Annual Board Meeting was heald and convened at Nukualofa, Tonga on the 14-15 May 2009. All members from member countries (Cook Islands, Fiji, PNG, Samoa, Tonga and Vanuatu) attended the meeting. Tom May of WADA and Jayne Kernohan of Drug free Sports New Zealand also attended the meeting.
The objectives of the ORADO Board Meeting are:
- To review current activities of the RADO Office and Individual member countries and develop an Operational Plan for 2009-2012.
- To develop a budget for the RADO.
- To develop a plan for funding of the RADO, recognizing that the Commonwealth Secretariat support ends in November 21009.
- To review Code Compliance and develop plans/strategies for countries to implement anti-doping rules and establish/develop NADOs.
The Board Members are expected:
a. Submit a written report on the anti-doping activities in their country, based on the information requested on the agenda. This will include an update on the status of their NADO. The development and implementation of anti-doping rules and the UNESCO Convention.
b. Provide an update on the discussions with their respective National Olympic Committees and Governments regarding the financial commitment to the RADO.
