Its been a very busy and a good 2012 for ORADO in regards for both Testing and Education Program. All was going well for ORADO until the news of one of its pioneer Doping Control Officer (DCO), Mrs. Gaylene Nonu, was diagnosed with cancer and unfortunately passed away on the 3th November 2012 in her home in Tonga.
Gaylene (a.k.a "Keilini") was one of the 8 selected individuals from Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, and Tonga to be part of the first ever Doping Control Officer Training workshop for the Pacific Islands in Sydney, 2004. The training was organized by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) in partnership with the Oceania National Olympic Committees (ONOC); and conducted by the Australia Sports Drug Agency (now known as Australia Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA)).
Keilini brought laughter and excitment everytime ORADO DCO Team meet up at workshops and especially during Games. She will be missed dearly by ORADO and especially the DCO Family.
REST IN PEACE KEILINI!
