South Pacific Games 1995 - Tahiti

After the shock of the 1991 SPG when both the French territories from the Pacific were removed from their mantle as the premier sporting nations of the region, both New Caledonia and Tahiti were keen to set the record straight. The tenth games were held in a spirit of celebration of a milestone of the double figure being reached for the SPG. Facilities and venues were classified as being of international standards.more

Thirteen Countries sent 646 Competitors and 99 Officials in ten different sport disciplines for the Inaugural South Pacific Games.
There were 516 male and 130 female competitors overall competing in 59 events, 19 of which included women.

280 technical officials were required and 91 Accredited Press were in attendance to support the Games.more
