The 4th annual Pacific Sports Awards were presented at the Pacific Games Council's annual General Assembly held in Wallis Island from 18-19 October. It was a big year for the 2011 Pacific Games hosts, New Caledonia, who won 3 of the 7 awards.
Nominations were received from 10 Pacific Games Associations and the winners were judged to have made "the most meritorious international performance/contribution" in their respective categories over the period 1 July 2011 until 30 June 2012.
The Pacific Games Council is pleased to advise the following winners of the 2011/12 Pacific Sports Awards:
Outstanding Sports Administrator of the Year - Rose Igitol (Baseball, Northern Mariana Islands)
Outstanding Coach of the Year - Naomi Polum (Athletics, Papua New Guinea)
Outstanding Technical Official of the Year - Christophe Bonbon (Basketball, New Caledonia)
Outstanding Junior Athlete of the Year - Dylan Lavorel (Swimming, New Caledonia)
Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year - Lara Grangeon (Swimming, New Caledonia)
Outstanding Male Athlete of the Year - Ryan Pini (Swimming, Papua New Guinea)
Outstanding Team of the Year - Vanuatu Women's Beach Volleyball Team
