This is to update on the South Pacific Games Authority and the SPGames Organising Committees and Facilities Committees, 18 months from the Games, of particular interest to all athletes in the South Pacific Region training hard to be the "Victorious Athletes" on 24 August to 08 September, 2007.
The Samoa 2007 South Pacific Games logo represents the "Victorious Athlete", and the slogan is "Live the Dream!
1. Facilities (see pictures on
www.samoa2007.ws)a) The Samoa Aquatic Centre (SAC)
After much anticipation, on January 16th, 2006, the SAT$35 million Samoa Aquatic Centre was officially opened. The keynote address was delivered by the Prime Minister of Samoa and China's Ambassador, His Excellency, Mr. Guanren Liu signed the Handover/Takeover Agreement with the SPGA Minister, Honourable Faumuina Tiatia Liuga. The Samoa Swimming Federation is now using the SAC to practice swimming for the South Pacific Games and is planning to host several international competitions in the future. Under the Technical Cooperation Agreement between the two governments, the remaining 5 ANHUI construction Company engineers are currently working with local counterparts for the SAC's maintenance and engineering operations.
b) Apia Park Stadium Rehabilitation
The Quindao Construction Group Corporation is rehabilitating the Stadium and ground breaking ceremony took place last week on Friday 17 February 2006. The agreement was signed last year on 15 December, 2005 at Beijing, China between Quindao and the Government of Samoa via the SPGA Minister; Honourable Faumuina Tiatia Liuga. The total cost of this facelift job is SAT$19million.
c) Mini Golf Course
This golf course caters for the junior members of golfing and the opening ceremony took place last week, well-attended by the Honourable Prime Minister, Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi and members of cabinet.
d) Games Village
Scheduled location at the campus site at the National University of Samoa and the Institute of Technology. A village report will be put up on the SPGames website

This is scheduled for construction this week, beginning with the groundbreaking ceremony at the National University of Samoa on Tuesday 28th February, 2006.
All SPGames facilities are on target for completion by end of Year 2006. The Facilities Committee is optimistic that the target deadline is a realistic one despite the heavy rains.
2. Marketing and Sponsorship (M&S)

Facilities naming rights e.g. Sponsor Aquatic Center. 2 Events such as Ownership of the Torch Relay e.g. Sponsor Torch Relay. 3. Activities naming rights e.g. Sponosr Samoa 2007 Cultural Festival.
