Hats off to the NC2011 Organising Committee for inviting the Legends of the first South Pacific Games in 1963 to attend the 2011 Games and take a nostalgic walk down memory lane.
Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the decision made in Noumea in 1961 to organise the first South Pacific Games two years hence in Suva, NC2011 managed a beautiful program for 13 former athletes from the 13 participating countries in the very first Games to enjoy the modern spectacle that the Pacific Games has become.
Pictured here leading the celebratory cake cutting task is Dr Robin Mitchell of Fiji, better known these days as the President of ONOC and IOC member in Fiji, who was a young hurdler in 1963.
