The Saipan International Meet was held on March 23 & 24 at the Kan Pacific pool in Marpi, Saipan. This annual meet brings together teams from all over Micronesia for two days of pool events, ending with an ocean swim in the picturesque waters in the Saipan Lagoon.
This year’s meet has been the largest in five years, with 151 swimmers and lots of fast swimming. Eight teams from all over Micronesia participated, Team Palau, Team Pohnpei, four Guam teams: Manhoben Swim Club, Manukai Swim Club, Anderson Marlins, and Tsunami Swim Club Guam. And the local teams Tsunami Swim Club and host Saipan Swim Club.
The meet consisted of 17 individual events swum over three sessions. There were several great races in the pool that weekend and you could see a lot of growth in all teams over the past few years, both in and out of the pool.
Following the International Meet swimmers competed in the 39th Saipan Ocean Swim. Distances range from 600 meters to a 5k in the beautiful Saipan Lagoon. 75 swimmers were treated to wonderful conditions and plentiful wildlife.
