Melanie has been working for Southern Zone since 2015. She has a Bachelors degree in Community development and enjoys the "More than just a Game" aspect to Rugby League.

She has always been heavily involved in sport (mainly netball) including playing, coaching and managing teams as well as being involved in the running of the University Albion netball club in Dunedin. She gave rugby league a crack in 2017 and thinks she may have found her calling.

Melanie's role with SZRL involves supporting clubs around the South Island with the club capability programme as well as event management of all major rugby league events and tournaments around the South Island.

Jack Green- Development Officer, Otago

Jack is from a small but thriving town called Waimate. He went to Timaru Boys where he played many sports, mainly Cricket. He moved to Dunedin to take on the student life where he studied Coaching and Management at the Institute of Sport.

Jack has been the Development Officer in Otago for just over a year now. Throughout my time I have delivered Rugby League coaching sessions at schools in Dunedin, Balclutha, Queenstown, and Oamaru. He also runs the local junior rugby league competitions as well as helping out with the major Southern Zone events.

His favorite part of the job is seeing the excitement on the kids’ faces when they get to play rugby league, and knowing that they are having a fun time. He enjoys getting the schools together for a tournament, and watching the kids play and see the improvement they have made.
