The Southern Zone Development Camp, which is a key component of the Southern Zone Development plan and pathways, was held for 2018 at St Thomas College in Christchurch. This camp saw 75 talented 14, 16 and 18-year-old players from throughout the South Island receiving expert tuition, information and advice across a range of topics that will help them to achieve to their potential.more

NZRL Talent Development Program

In 2018 New Zealand Rugby League has introduced the Talent Development Programme (TDP) which has been designed to better prepare players working towards a professional career, while keeping players closer to home and playing in local competitions longer. 176 of the top players from across the country have been selected to be a part of this programme over 2 age grades.more

Since July, our South Island Scorpion squads have been hard at work training in preparation for the National Youth Tournament in Rotorua. The South Island wide teams have been training each weekend in Christchurch with players travelling from as far South as Invercargill and as far North as Nelson (plus everywhere in between).more

The CRL Board comprises a maximum of seven Directors, of which four are elected at the Annual General Meeting and a further three are appointed by an independent Appointments Panel and applications for two positions that are available this year.more

The NZ University and Tertiary Students Rugby League Council (NZUTSRL) are seeking applications from qualified personnel for the positions of Team Coach and Team Manager for their national team. The appointments in both cases would be through to the completion of the Student World Cup in July/August 2017.more

The 2015 NZRL award winners were named in Auckland last night. Southern Zone Rugby League was well represented in the finalists list of which two were the winners on the night. The whole South Island rugby league community is deeply saddened at the loss of one of the communities hardest working and dedicated people. The passing of Eddie Hei Hei following the Southland District Rugby League Grand Final yesterday is a real tragedy.more
